Sustainable Morchard

Sustainable Morchard is a community group whose core purpose is to help the people of Morchard Bishop and local area, lead a more sustainable lifestyle in the face of environmental  challenges. We shall do this by raising awareness through talks, projects and village actions.

Combined coffee morning and seed swap. Bird boxes and kits sold together with Knife sharpening services and local organic vegetables

Edward Jackson presented a talk on Amazing Swifts with over 50 Parishioners attending

Morchard Bishop School took on a project to design our new Logo

Plant swap organised for the village  at the Hall Coffee morning. Fascinating Talk on Tawny Owls by local Naturalist Stephen Powles attracted almost 60 .

Seed swap together with bird nest boxes raised significant funds for the group at the Hall Coffee morning

Herb garden trough set up in St Gatien’s. Herbs will be available on a help yourself basis. To be planted up in spring. Village Energy saving talk took place.

New blue collection bin in cardboard shed set up for old tablet blister packs.

June 2023
Farm Walk at Moor farm took place providing awareness of encouraging more wildlife diversity. Attended by circa 30 Folks.

May 2023
Hedgehog awareness signs have been purchased and put up in Oldborough and Bugford, where Hedgehog Road deaths have occurred. A wildlife talk by naturalist John Walters was held in the village hall and attended by circa 60 Parishioners.

More 20MPH please slow down signs set up on village roads.

February 2023
A seed swap was arranged at the Tabletop coffee morning.

December 2022
Bio diversity: Lydcott nurseries have provided some end of season pollination plants for free. These will be planted in St Gatien’s garden. A new water Butt has been installed nearby to assist with watering. 600 daffodil bulbs have been given to School and pre school pupils. In addition 400 have been planted around village signposts.

Excess Produce stall established in Pub car park This will be for any excess produce from their gardens so others can make use of it.

Creation of a Welcome pack with village information to newcomers set up on Parish Website

Environment group established.
